Five Days, 2 Bags and an Exhibition to Go!

FIVE DAYS | With five days left before I leave for my six weeks in Ireland it’s starting to become crunch time. Time to wind up projects I’ve been working on and start putting together my mobile art studio. For me the piles have start forming of things that can’t be forgotten. This is how I pre-pack the week before I leave. How could anyone be expected to remember everything while packing?

TWO BAGS | My two bags consist of one carry-on and a large checked bag. Anyone who knows me would almost laugh at the idea that I’d be bring this many clothes…they’d be right! The large bag holds the exhibition and all the supplies that are needed to put it together: paintings, tape, framing supplies, gallery materials, art supplies and many more incidentals, just in case. The art always gets the big bag while my clothes for 6 weeks get the small carry-on. After all they are just clothes and the art is what it’s all about. Can you imagine 6 weeks of clothes in a carry-on? I look at it as a challenge making sure everything goes with everything. I didn’t say I was fancy!

AN EXHIBITION | When boarding the plane I love sitting by the window. This would be that I’m a bit of a stresser and I LOVE seeing that exhibition bag go under the plane. That’s right, then I know it’s there AND I get to have a great flying view. Once I land on the other side of the big beautiful ocean I pretty much hold my breath until my bag pops out of the magic hole and says “I made it too!” Seeing it on the conveyor belt in Ireland is a great feeling. It is an exhibition that I work all year on. I took the photos for it while I was in Ireland last year. Sorting through the hundreds of photos I’ve taken choosing those that show the passion that I have for the land and Ireland itself. Once edited, the photos get listed online and then the painting starts.

EXHIBITION OPENING | I’m so looking forward to this year’s solo exhibition in Allihies, County Cork, Beara Peninsula, Ireland. My solo exhibition “For the Love of The Land” will hang from August 10th – September 7th at the Allihies Copper Mine Museum. The Exhibition Opening is scheduled for Friday, August 10th at 8:00 PM.

ALL ARE WELCOME!
